Terrorizer Magazine Review of Spylacopa Interview

Taken from Spylacopa's MySpace page at this location:

From its beginnings as a humble side project for Candiria guitarist John Lamacchia, Spylacopa has accrued exceptional musicians in a snowball of mounting musical bliss, leading us to this stunning debut EP. With Lamacchia's guitar playing and studio trickery supported by Isis' Jeff Caxide on bass, the stage is set for Dillinger's Greg Puciato and Made Out Of Babies' Julie Christmas to turn these warm, atmospheric songs into nightmarishly catchy, pop metal hit singles. With opening pair 'Haunting A Ghost' and 'Bloodletting', the balance between grin-inducing immediacy and dissonant menace is struck to absolute perfection. After the piano led instrumental of 'Together We Become Forever', 'Staring At The Sound' is redolent of latter day Candiria, anthemic vocals over a driving juggernaut of shifting time signatures. 'I Should Have Known You Would' closes proceedings with a woozy, Radiohead referencing lullaby, Puciato crooning "I should have killed you" as the agonising wait for a potential full-length looms on the horizon.

Kerrang Update: Dillinger Escape Plan Nominated for Best Live Band

The Dillinger Escape Plan have been nominated for the "Best Live Band" category in this year's Kerrang! Awards. They are up against 30 Seconds to mars, Lostprophets, Machine Head and Avenged Sevenfold. Make sure you get your votes in for The Dillinger Escape Plan to ensure a well-deserved win. More info below:

Competition in each category is extremely tight and there's still time to vote if you want your favourites to take a shiny K! trophy home on the night. Or the following morning, for that matter.

To cast your votes, click here.

Voters who are 18 years of age and over will be in with a chance to win their very own table at this year's ceremony. Yes, you and nine friends could be rubbing shoulders with - and potentially stepping over - the biggest names in rock at the Kerrang! Awards 2008!

Thanks to Brogan for taking the time to write in with the news!

Old and New Scans of DEP Features in Rock-A-Rolla

I just today picked up Rock-A-Rolla Magazine's 14th issue, in which I found a live review of The Dillinger Escape Plan. So I've scanned that, in addition to a Dillinger Escape Plan feature article/interview, review on Ire Works, and the first part of Rock-A-Rolla's top 30 albums from 2007 (in which Ire Works came out at 4th) all of which were featured in Rock-A-Rolla's 12th issue. You can find everything mentioned below and at Flickr.

Scans from April's Revolver and Modern Drummer

Again, Goolick33 has been kind enough to upload scans of a DEP feature from the April issue of Revolver and the Gil Sharone feature in Modern Drummer (mentioned a little while back). Gil in Modern Drummer *Updated with Scans*

This is already old news, seeing how Modern Drummer are already putting out their May issue, but Gil Sharone was featured in the magazine in April. According to a post on Gil's MySpace account, it consisted of a 10-page feature, which addressed a lot of questions he had been getting at that time. You can view part of it on Modern Drummer's website, and you can also pick up a back issue of the April issue (which has the full article and interview) from this location.

*Update* Goolick33 has uploaded scans of the feature, which you can view below (click on the images to enlarge them).

Assortment of News I Seemed to Have Missed

Apparently, I managed to miss a few recent things happening in regard to DEP. Firstly, DEP were apparently on MTV Two (on The Riot) and presented a whole lot of songs they happened to like. For (not much) more information, go to MTV's official site (if you feel so inclined). I can't seem to find a video for it, but if anyone else happens to, let me know. Secondly, there's a really worthwhile video interview with Greg Puciato over at Face Culture, which you can find here. It's from a little while back (29th of February), but it's definitely something you should check out. And lastly, DEP were in Kerrang sometime late February (I don't know the exact date or issue, sorry). They did an interview and a gig review; the latter of which can be viewed here and here, thanks to Josh_lol from the DEP Forums over at SMN News.
