New Post/Update by Greg Puciato

From MySpace:

Quick update:

-The Dillinger Escape Plan is writing for a new album, to be recorded in 2009, and we are confirming tour dates for random places throughout the world for early 2009 and possibly if the stars align even a few for late 2008. We'll announce them as soon as they're confirmed.

-The self-titled Spylacopa EP comes out on November 18th. Pre-orders will be available soon. The leadoff track "Haunting A Ghost" has just been added to the Spylacopa player, and new reviews, interviews, and info is constantly being updated in the Spylacopa blog section. Don't be a stranger over there.

-Other musical outlets are starting to develop on the horizon as well: a little somethin' called Shit Yeah, another project, and other random developments. Details of everything will start to come into focus very soon, and you'll know everything as soon as it makes sense to tell you haha.

So....now to get some shit started on a total non-musical front. The question everyone is talking about. Who is everyone voting for? Why?

The last blog over on the Dillinger page about voter registration seemed to get a lot of attention. Some people were stoked we were advocating voter registration, some people were pissed we didn't say who we were voting for, and some people were pissed we aren't like Rage Against The Machine and that we didn't dismiss the whole system as an Illuminati controlled dictatorship and encourage people to try to violently overthrow the government. Whatever the reaction, it was very interesting. So in the interest of not speaking on behalf of my bandmates on the Dillinger page, I'm interested in getting some healthy discussion brewing over here....without getting shitty with one another. Because hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion. It doesn't mean we can't go out and eat ice cream together afterwards, as long as you aren't a total asshole. I'll lead this one off. I'm voting for Obama. Do I think he's the messiah? Or is anyone for that matter? No. But whether you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat, or refuse to be institutionalized and have your vision clouded and your mind constrained by committing to party affiliation(you can see where my bias is hahaha), the reality is that there are two people realistically up for the job. Obama, and McCain(ok four if you factor the Grim Reaper into the Obama/McCain scenario), and I use the term "person" loosely to describe Sarah Palin and her neanderthalic/archaic views on stem cell research, abortion, gay rights, and religious fundamentalist/magic man in the sky/superstition over science views on creation and life. So three people and a creature from another dimension(seriously did a portal in Alaska open up into the realm of "stupid"? Because where else do people like her come from?). But seriously, all kidding aside, I thoroughly disagree, with the notion, as some people on the Dillinger blog have said, that the two tickets are the same, that it doesn't matter who wins, both are equally evil, etc. I don't agree with everything Barack has to say, like for example, raising taxes on higher income brackets, because I mean really, how is anything other than a flat tax fair? So, like I said, nobody is perfect, but I think the issues we are dealing with right now are a little more pressing than taxes, and especially on a level of social justice/human rights there is no place in 2008 for government enforced denial of gay marriage, denying equal benefits because of sexual preference, opposing abortion, making policy decisions based on religious beliefs, denying medical advances due to relgious beliefs(opposing stem cell research) etc. There is no room for somebody with a quick temperament to be holding the reigns of this sinking ship, somebody who insults your intelligence by picking Sarah Palin as a running mate, somebody who ran the first half of his whole campaign on a forty year old POW story instead of issues, and now is just running a mudslinging campaign, someone who appears more and more senile with each public appearance, combined with a running mate who appears dumber and dumber with each one. Obama isn't perfect, and we may very well be too far down the shitter to get out of it in the near future, but we have to start trying to get back in the right direction and I can't see any way that McCain has shown any signs at all of being able to become a responsible, unifying, and forward thinking leader who is keen to the issues directly facing this era.

Let me also point out that I am NOT endorsing or expressing allegiance to the Democratic party, only supporting the current ticket and opposing what I see as the gross and curious aberration of nature that the Republican ticket has become, as I think that there have obviously been disasters(Jimmy Carter, Bush), and greatness(FDR, Reagan) in both parties at different times.

I'm sure some of you will furiously agree or disagree, and we could obviously go into policy differences and minutia ad nauseum, which I'm not opposed to doing. I'm just interested in hearing what all of you have to say.

OH and by the way, when this recession/depression/economic downward spiral eventually leads us to national collapse...and revolution and anarchy are upon us(a very real possibility given the exponential rate with which this is all going downhill), meet me at James Love's(touring guitar player for Dillinger in between Brian Benoit and Jeff Tuttle) house down in Houston, because word has it that he is slowly but steadily stockpiling a Terminator 2 style arms collection, and already roams around at night with a shotgun he calls "The Persuader". We'll take over the Astrodome or something and have a miniature Matrix styled Zion inside.

Greg Puciatos thoughts on "Haunting A Ghost"

From MySpace:
"Haunting A Ghost": John and I had written a bunch of songs together, and every new song was getting increasingly better, and this is the song that I realized we were hitting a stride with. Everything vocal in this song: phrasing...melody...lyrics...all came very quickly and natural to me and that's usually when you know it's good. Sometimes when I hear music I feel like I can hear the melody in the music, like when its loud, you begin to hear the melody creating itself, singing itself, especially with distorted guitars, in the overtones and undertones of the music. Then I feel like I just decipher it and pull it out and there it is. That's how the chorus of this song was. I listened to it, and the vocal melody was just nested in there, sitting right there. The chord progression is really great, and the bassline underneath from Jeff really gives it a feel that I love, like a boat going up and down in the sea or something. Lyrically the song just talks about waking up and realizing that all of a sudden you are in this new phase of your life, and its a little confusing and maybe you aren't sure what to make of it or what to do with it, but rather than be nostalgic for the past and trying to hang on to memories, you embrace your situation and would never ever go back. In my case it applied to a personal relationship ending/beginning that instantly signified a changing of eras for me as a person.
"Haunting A Ghost" is now streaming from Spylacopa's MySpace page. Check it out.

Interview With Greg Puciato on Spylacopa

Spylacopa was formed by John LaMacchia in 2000, and was "simply inteded to be a conduit for his experimental and hypnotic compositions." The first Spylacopa release, "Collective Unconscious," appeared on Candiria's C.O.M.A. Imprint in 2002. A few years later in 2005, with the addition of The Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato and Jeff Caxide of Isis, another Spylacopa single, "The Duke," was released on Undreradar Records in a split with Young America. Releasing a few tracks spontaneously from that point onwards on their MySpace page, Spylacopa's forthcoming debut EP, which gets released on the 4th of November (a little under a month away from now, will be their first proper release.)

Featuring members of Candiria, Isis, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Battle of Mice, it seems like this EP is going to be quite a treat. Indeed, the first two reviews of the forthcoming EP so far have been extremely positive. In addition, the track "Blodletting", which will appear on the EP, now available in streaming from Spylacopa's MySpace page, and prominently featuring Julie Christmas and Greg Puciato together on vocals, promises that the EP is going to be something special.

I spoke with Greg Puciato about the forthcoming EP, and we discussed, amongst other things, his feelings on the finished product, the recording and studio process and the United States Postal Service. Read the interview below:

According to your press release, Spylacopa was formed by John LaMacchia as a way of “exploring experimental and hypnotic compositions” while playing guitar in Candiria. How did other musicians, such as yourself, become involved in the project?

I was approached by John at the show Dillinger played for Tsunami relief at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square NYC(the show where the now infamous youtube headwalk took place). It was a very vague idea at that time, early 2005, and he mentioned that he wanted to release some music he had been working on, and asked if I would be interested in singing on a song or two. I agreed and then really nothing happened for a year because Dillinger was touring so heavily, and John was writing music, finding his voice for this project. In 2006 we really started to send ideas back and forth and realized that we really enjoyed working with one another and became very excited by the creative possibilities, and it became more than just one or two songs. I have no idea how Jeff from Isis or Julie became involved in their parts, John just reached out to various people he was interested in. I would love for that aspect to continue in the future, and I already have some great ideas for the next release as far as guestspots and so forth.

Spylacopa is an amazing prospect considering that the people involved in the project thus far are from extremely talented and critically acclaimed bands such as Isis, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Candria and Made Out of Babies. Considering everyone’s different backgrounds and experiences, how well did you all cooperate on the EP?

Well it was a slow process haha, we didn't start to hit our stride until early 2007. We had demoed probably a full length's worth of songs before we really started to hit our mark, the result of which is this EP. Obviously Julie Christmas just came in and wrote and recorded her vocals for “Bloodletting”, and I actually am not sure which tracks Jeff Caxide played on or what riffs/parts he wrote, that was mostly between him and John in NYC, and I would get ideas as they came and work on them at home, then when I was ready I would go up and collaborate with John and record my parts. We keep an open table at all times, between John and I, its a really healthy creative relationship in my opinion, I just wish, as I do with Dillinger, that we could spend more time physically in the same place as it would make things run much faster! But it is what it is.

Work started on the EP in 2006. How would you describe the song writing process for it?

Well like I said above, we leave it pretty open. Right now me and John are very on the same page it seems in terms of where we see this going and what works and what doesn't, what fits and what doesn't. John for the most part wrote all of three songs musically, and I wrote two songs musically, and then I wrote my lyrics, Julie wrote hers, etc. There is no ego in this band in terms of “I'm the songwriter, I'm the music writer”. It's a totally open forum. If an idea is great it's great. John is a much better guitar player than I am from a technical standpoint, but we are both competent with midi and electronics/programming etc, so if he comes up with a great guitar part or I come up with a cool riff or chord progression, and we both can tell it feels right, we use it. If he comes up with a great vocal melody or phrase, I use it. We've both been in bands for a long enough time, we're not kids starting out trying to prove to ourselves and each other that we can do everything on our own and don't have anything to gain from one another.

What about the recording and studio process?

The recording process was very spread apart largely because of the Dillinger touring schedule. We only had time to record here and there. So we did it whenever we could. John lives only a few blocks from the studio so he was always way ahead of me in the process.

In January this year you posted the news that you headed into Sweet Fire Studios to do the final mixing. Would you account the fact that the people involved in Spylacopa have been busy with their own bands and touring schedules for the reason that the EP has taken so long?

Exactly. I mean it took time because of my schedule with Dillinger like I said, but also because from a timing standpoint it didn't make sense for us to release it right in the beginning or middle of the Ire Works touring cycle either.

To what extent did specific members of the project have an involvement with the song writing and recording processes? How much of an involvement did you have in it?

Of this particular batch of songs, I wrote the music for two, John wrote the music for three, and I sing on all four that have lyrics.

Were there any artists or musicians that particularly inspired what you have done with Spylacopa?

Ehhh the thing about inspiration for me is that it comes from so many places now that I can't really pin down exactly where things come from, which is a good thing! You just hope that whatever comes out of you works well with what the other person is contributing, and if it feels forced, you find someone else to work with! John and I figured out pretty early that we had a good chemistry together. He is a really dynamic player and listens to a lot of music, and also allows himself musically to be influenced by life in general and things other than music, which is important to me, a real artist, not just a guy who practices shredding or mimicking other artists all the time. He has real soul in his writing and playing. He plays a couple of guitar solos that I was really blown away by, not just in terms of technicality but in terms of composition and feel. I would say my influences are more emotion and experience based than musical, not just in writing lyrics but also in writing music, vocal delivery, etc. I feel things more than I think about them, from an artistic standpoint at least. I don't hear a song and think to myself "ok I have to sing notes in this scale" or "this part would sound great if I sang like Eddie Vedder", hahaha, I just try to let things be as natural and without the obstruction of overthinking as possible. Thinking and learning and absorbing, the mental aspect of music, that should happen first, at a different time. When it comes time to write I think it's best to just let it rip and trust and hope that you have the right tools in your corner, that you learned the right things, that you came prepared. That's something I learned from Ben Weinman more than anyone, to do your thinking beforehand, and then when its time to write, just feel. On Miss Machine I almost gave myself a stroke from overthinking everything, sometimes rewriting things forty times only to realize the first or second time was the best. Now that I've learned to separate inhaling from exhaling so to speak, its a much more enjoyable and organized process.

How do you feel with the finished product, are you pleased with it?

So happy with it. Mike Barille did a great job engineering it and getting great tones(which is hard to tell from the myspace stream I know!). The songs themselves, the packaging, the whole vibe, I'm happy with. It feels great to be putting something out that we are proud of and feel attached to and excited about, something that doesn't have a history before it hanging over our heads. Even though we come from particular backgrounds and people may have preconceived notions about us, from Dillinger and Candiria. That may think that John and I sit down and the first thing that comes out is polyrhythms and “math” metal haha, its really far from that. We really feel like we have a completely open canvas and infinite colors to paint with so to speak, so its a great feeling. We cover a lot of territory in these five songs, and didn't paint ourselves into any corners, which is really important to us. I feel like if the next release was some crushingly heavy album, or an instrumental soundtrack, or ambient or rock or whatever, it would make sense now. If we're smart though we'll be writing country songs and singing about fucking and drinking beer on a farm or whatever. That's where the meal ticket in the US is hiding. Right over there under the tractor.

How do you think the EP will be received?

Probably through the US Postal Service, maybe through Itunes. Seriously though, I think that people who care about our previous bands will be happy, they seem to be growing with us, and especially for me personally, Dillinger fans that liked Ire Works I think will really like this. I really think we are offering together something that is timeless and not tied down to any current trend or time period, it doesn't sound time stamped to me at all. These songs could have been written in 1993 or they could have been written in 2020.

How did you got about deciding to release the EP on Rising Pulse Records?

Rising Pulse is John's label that he is gonna be putting this out through, and regardless if the next release comes out on a larger label it will still carry this imprint. Rising Pulse was a better name than Rising Penis. Although I think they usually go hand in hand. Maybe our publishing name should be Rising Penis, that way it's listed as Rising Pulse/Rising Penis. Then we could just shorten it and call it Cialis. Then we'd really get the attention of the older fans.

Is the EP getting released on multiple formats as previously mentioned?

Yeah, we'll be doing some cool packaging stuff. I really want this project, as far as the physical realm is concerned, to stay fairly exclusive. There is no point in putting out infinite copies of a boring cd package. I'd rather make a really cool CD that only has like a thousand tangible copies, and 200 7 inches, and then have it all be digital online after that. CDs and and records and any physical manifestation of a recording seem to me to be going the way of the dinosaur for the general public, they are just for collectors and people who still really appreciate the art of a release, which is a small group. I think if you concentrate on making everything really awesome, then the people who find themselves unable to get the cd or the record, because no more copies exist, find themselves wishing they could, and they understand and have a better appreciation for the whole piece.

Who is doing the artwork for the EP? How did they come about doing it?

Not many people know this, but John is a really good visual artist as well! We originally were going to get someone else to do it, but then I was hanging out at John's apartment, and he has all these really cool drawings and art hanging on the walls, really unique looking, but all very consistent, you could tell they were by the same person. I asked him who did them and he was like “me!”, and I was just like man you have to do something with this, you have to do the art for this band, the more things that we can self contain the better, and who better to know what the visual feel should be than someone in the band? It eliminates having to filter your vision through someone elses interpretation if you can just do it yourself. He has a great eye for aesthetics whether it be drawn by hand, computer imagery, or photography.

Also in your press release for Spylacopa, John LaMacchia mentioned that there is the possibility for Spylacopa to perform live. Considering the busy schedules of the musicians involved in the project, how strongly a possibility do you think that there is for live Spylacopa shows to materialize?

Very strong. We have booking agents for the US and for the rest of the world. I gonna say that it will definitely happen.

Do you have anything more planned for Spylacopa in the near future?

Just getting this out, writing another one or a full length, seeing what makes sense for us, what fits. I'm not viewing this so much as a side project for me as it is just a different outlet. Obviously Dillinger is the bigger of the two, but creatively I don't really see a difference in terms of how exciting or fulfilling they are to me.

82588 Shirt and New MySpace Post *Shirt No Longer Available*

Design by Shadow Monster.

All the info you need regarding this shirt is in the following MySpace post:

So the Kerrang awards happened Thursday night. We won an award called "The Spirit Of Independence Award", which according to host Scott Ian(before he was a "VH1 Celebrity" he was actually in a rad little band called "Anthrax", kids) goes to an "uncompromising band that manages to break rules and stay outside of the mainstream" or something like that. Basically they should just call it the "Total Badass" award. If you're a girl, we're like the guy who wears shitty clothes, hangs out with people your parents don't approve of, doesn't appear to have a real job, but is somehow smarter, kicks more ass, mysteriously has more money, drives a better car, and fucks better than your boring rolex wearing white bread boyfriend. Spirit of Independence? That's the DEP way, don't they know that? Anyhow, we got recognized, and sent Ben Weinman and Asian Steve across the pond to receive the award.

Ten minutes into the award ceremony, I get a text from Ben saying that we are seated right next to Metallica. Oh....killer. I think at that moment I was doing something really awesome like pumping gas or something and started to begin to question my decision not to go.

So nine hours later I get a call from Ben, and he tells me a tale of tales that will live on in infamy. The following events were real and actually happened:

-Ben and Asian Steve got onstage and accepted the award on behalf of The Dillinger Escape Plan....pretty awesome, great honor. Bands that we are huge fans of like Metallica and Rage Against The Machine stand and applaud...the surrealism begins. Thanks Kerrang, and thanks to our friends in the UK, you have always always been consistently some of our favorite people to play for, and some of the best and most supportive people in the world for us.

(Here's where the story goes into a world of surrealism that surpasses even Salvador Dali's most bizarre imaginations)

-Later, Metallica accepts some award, and sends a shout out to Asian Steve.

-Backstage....Lars Ulrich comes up to Ben and the Asian and goes "Yo! You're Asian Steve!"

-Today, actually at this moment, Metallica is playing Reading fest, and Ben and Asian Steve have been there hanging out and kicking it with them all day. They are completely aware of both "'87 Hetfield" and the significance of "82588". At the rate this story is unfolding, Asian Steve is probably onstage right now playing third guitar for "Harvester Of Sorrow" or something.

Needless to say my mind is blown. At the instant Lars ran up and called out Asian Steve I would have started punching myself in the face trying to wake up from whatever alternate reality I had gone into. Right now I am convinced that they have entered some sort of matrix of awesomeness, a parallel dimension of some sort where instead of a white rabbit with a flavor flav clock jumping down holes, a little danish drummer of the greatest metal band of all time runs up to Asian Steve and recognizes him out loud by name. I no longer question my choice not to go. It goes beyond that. If I see any of you, at any time, and you ask me why I didn't go...I will punch you straight in the face. They are apparently filming a lot, so we'll get some footage of everything up when they get back.

So anyhow, the Party Smasher shirt sold out, and tomorrow we will have the 82588 shirt up for sale on the main page. Tomorow is, of course, 8/25/08. The catch is this. This shirt will ONLY BE ON SALE TOMORROW. Forever. That's it. It goes up tonight at midnight EST, and goes down tomorrow night at midnight PST. I'm throwing an extra three hours in there, just as a cushion for people on the west coast. But that's it. After that, this shirt will never ever ever be available again. We aren't limiting it to a particular number of copies, we're just selling it tomorrow, and that's it forever. So tonight, when the clock hits midnight on the east coast of the US, or 5am in the UK, 6am in Europe, 9pm on the west coast of the US, whatever the hell time Australia/Japan/New Zealand operates on, up it goes. Here's a preview...(please don't sue us Lars! I know you're reading! It's an homage!!!)

EDIT: Inspired by the Metallica album "...And Justice For All", and the lady justice visual, this limited edition "82588 : NO JUSTICE FOR ANY" shirt features a headless Lady Justice crumbling and falling apart on the front, with "Dillinger Escape Plan" written in the classic Metallica "Justice" font at the bottom, and the uneven scales of justice being tipped by money on the back. This shirt is only going to be available from now until August 26th, a little over a 24 hour period. Don't miss out, this is going to be a Dillinger shirt that will end up being a collector's item for sure. After today, you will never be able to get it again unless you scour Ebay and get lucky but I'm sure nobody's ever gonna give it up. Check it out on our main page. Then after you order one make sure you listen to something gnarly off of that album like "Dyer's Eve", or "Shortest Straw", or the middle part of "Blackened" on a loop for 30 minutes, and close your ehttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifyes and soak in the pure unadulterated majesty of pure 87 Hetfield storming around like a lion with a giant white ESP Explorer that says "EET FUK" on it or something oddly cool. Or better yet, if you're a noob who thinks Metallica is just some band of old dudes who put out some terrible song on the Mission Impossible 47 soundtrack, you should probably go check THIS out. Please try to control your boner.

Huge New MySpace Post, or: How Greg Puciato Ate Rice Krispies For Breakfast Today

From MySpace:

The End Of The Road....
Category: Music

....is a pretty good song by Boys 2 Men. One of those songs that when it comes on, by the end everyone is singing along. It's also a very weird feeling that comes along at the end of an album touring cycle, when you've been on the road for almost a year straight, and you reach the end of it for a while. It's like driving a car at 150mph the whole time then coming to a stop. When you are travelling the world with the same nine people in various forms of transportation, all for a single cause, you don't stop to realize how great it all is until you're done for a while, and how much that whole lifestyle and all of those people have become a part of yourself. We turned ourselves into machines, that play through injuries and violently exorcise rock and roll demons on a nightly basis. What a strange feeling it is to know that we don't have any shows booked at all and that we'll be home for a bit. Like a soldier with no more war to fight. Kinda like Rambo at the end of First Blood. So if you see any of us backpacking through your town mumbling about what time the show starts or yelling at random people to "start the intro", just look the other way. I guess what's weird about it, is that for us the road had become home. We left to record Ire Works in June of 2007, and never really stopped after that. Now we're looking at the first substantial block of time off the road, and it's time to shift gears a bit. Which brings us to our first order of business:

-Some of you may have seen October tour dates posted for a tour we were to take part in. Due to circumstances beyond our control(no we're not breaking up so don't believe anything that might start floating around on the internet) we will not be taking part in that tour. We wish every other band on the tour well, and hope that it is a great success for them and for the people behind the scenes working hard to make it a great tour.

We have a lot of exciting things happening. The best of which is writing for the next album, which we'll record sometime next year. We have a good amount of ideas in the initial testing stages, and we're about to really dive in. We also have a DVD of early years Dillinger in the works for all you old heads or people interested in a history lesson, and we're still gonna be cranking out these limited Ire Works shirts 'til we reach the end of the song list. Party Smasher and 82588 are coming up, wait 'til you see how ridiculous they are. I know that you'll all be stoked on them. I may have to break my rule of not wearing my own band's shirts. Hopefully Lars won't sue us over the 82588 design....(hint hint)

We had a lot of great shows on the US run, we were totally shocked at the amount of people who showed up to see us at the Cavalera shows. Thank you all so much. We had a lot of fun and it was great to see you all. Chain Reaction? Los Angeles House Of Blues? Two shows that will definitely not be forgotten.

Remember when we posted Jeff's number online and you all called saying "Bitch I'm The Boss"....well if you still have Jeff Tuttle's phone number, you may now wanna call him up and say "Bitch, You Are Definitely No Longer The Boss", because he just got engaged. Domestication better not sap your ability to unleash the fury, boy. Please stay the boss Jeff. Wear them pants son! Wear 'em!

You should all probably go see Tropic Thunder. Absolutely ridiculous. Not since Soul Man has anyone turned in a performance like Robert Downey Jr did in that movie. Utterly absurd. I've never been in a theater where there were so many people uncomfortably trying to not laugh at some of the un-PC parts in that movie. Lighten up folks, it's called comedy.

Ben played a crazy avant garde set last night at John Zorn's club the Stone two night's ago with Trevor Dunn. It was filmed, we'll get some stuff up soon. He's got a lot of other cool stuff going on too like programming work with Ephel Duath and who knows what else he's into. Head over to his page at www.myspace.com/benjaminweinman every now and then and maybe he'll fill you in on those things before I do.

Spylacopa, the project with me and John LaMacchia of Candiria fame, that has been slowly materializing in the background for years now, is finally seeing the light of day. Our first EP, with guest appearances from Julie Christmas of Made Out Of Babies/Battle Of Mice fame and Jeff Caxide from Isis, is gonna come out on November 4th. More info on the release and the project as a whole will be forthcoming, keep up to date on that over at www.myspace.com/spylacopa .

Don't worry, we'll definitely still play some shows while we're writing the new album. We'll get another US run in at some point as well as another UK run and some off the beaten path places like Mexico and South America. We'll let you know. Stay tuned to this site for whatever may come...

OR you can always go to our unofficial news page, www.spreadinglikewings.com and the kid who runs that will probably know about anything pertaining to our lives before any of us do. I don't bother making decisions in my life at all anymore, I just check that site and find out what happens. I go there, and it'll say something like "Greg Puciato ate rice krispies for breakfast today", and it'll somehow be before I actually even ate breakfast, but the fact is that I actually was thinking of eating rice krispies. Then I do, thus fulfilling the prophecy. It's a little weird. There's probably news up about this blog even though I haven't posted it yet.

Here's some new FOOTAGE from tour. Check it out if you're into Brent from Mastodon and homosexual zombies(very closely related). We love you all...Asian Steve doesn't though. He hates everyone. Go here and tell him to have a coke and a smile every now and then.

Full UVTV Video Up Now *Updated*

The full UVTV video of The Dillinger Escape Plan live in concert (pro-shot footage) is now up. You can access it through the UVTV podcast, or you can watch it below. Note: the video is up on a "very fast server and will work better than uploading somewhere else."

Edit: Unfortunately, the videos have been taken off YouTube due to Copyright Infringement. There is still a slightly better quality clip of "Lurch" on DEP's Facebook page.

Also, if you want to you can download the concert from this location (you can download it without any worry).

Old and New Scans of DEP Features in Rock-A-Rolla

I just today picked up Rock-A-Rolla Magazine's 14th issue, in which I found a live review of The Dillinger Escape Plan. So I've scanned that, in addition to a Dillinger Escape Plan feature article/interview, review on Ire Works, and the first part of Rock-A-Rolla's top 30 albums from 2007 (in which Ire Works came out at 4th) all of which were featured in Rock-A-Rolla's 12th issue. You can find everything mentioned below and at Flickr.

Spylacopa EP Update

Spylacopa updated their MySpace blog on the 6th of June with the following EP update:
We are almost finished with the first Spylacopa release. A few final steps and songs will be posted, CD's, LP's and digital downloads will be available. We are looking at a late summer release. Subscribe to this blog for more news as we receive it
Make sure that you subscribe to the RSS feed of their blog for future updates.

If you don't know much about Spylacopa, you should know that it's a project/band consisting of the following: John LaMacchia, Jeff Caxide (Isis), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Julie Christmas (Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice) and Troy Young. They've also got a pretty sweet t-shirt (pictured below), which you can get a hold of for $12 (U.S.) + shipping through PayPal through their official MySpace page.

New MySpace Posts by DEP and Greg

The Dillinger Escape Plan and Greg Puciato have updated their MySpace account with new posts which you can check out here and here respectively.

Nothing new really except for an update on the t-shirts (they're on their way) and for this update on Spylacopa on Greg's blog:
SPYLACOPA : We're putting the finishing touches on our first official EP, doing some last minute mixing adjustments before we master. John and I have been working the ears off of Mike Barile of Sweetfire Studios in Brooklyn, having him endlessly tweak mixes every day, but we're just about done. Looks to be a very limited release, we're probably gonna do some cool packaging options in really limited numbers, then make a more general digital release afterwards. Keep an eye out for more info on the Spylacopa page. I'm really happy with how this is turning out, John is a fantastic guitar player and musical mind who I'm very fortunate to be able to collaborate with, and we are just barely starting to scratch the surface of possibility for this very exciting and open ended project.

Assortment of News I Seemed to Have Missed

Apparently, I managed to miss a few recent things happening in regard to DEP. Firstly, DEP were apparently on MTV Two (on The Riot) and presented a whole lot of songs they happened to like. For (not much) more information, go to MTV's official site (if you feel so inclined). I can't seem to find a video for it, but if anyone else happens to, let me know. Secondly, there's a really worthwhile video interview with Greg Puciato over at Face Culture, which you can find here. It's from a little while back (29th of February), but it's definitely something you should check out. And lastly, DEP were in Kerrang sometime late February (I don't know the exact date or issue, sorry). They did an interview and a gig review; the latter of which can be viewed here and here, thanks to Josh_lol from the DEP Forums over at SMN News.
