Puscifer Shows to Feature Gil Sharone

From Headbanger's Blog:

Keenan is also looking forward to the first ever shows by his project, Puscifer, February 13 and 14 in Las Vegas at the Pearl in the Palms Casino. Expect friends and collaborators to include multi-instrumentalist Jonny Polonsky; Stolen Babies drummer Gil Sharone and bassist Rani Sharone; guitarist/Chapman stick player Trey Gunn; King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto; and Primus drummer Tim Alexander. Additional participants may include the inventors and stars of the HBO comedy series “Mr. Show,” David Cross and Bob Odenkirk and “SpongeBob SquarePants” alum Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob and other characters) and Jill Talley (voice of Karen).

“If we pull this thing off correctly first time around it’s gonna open up the door for other people to be involved in the future events,” Keenan says. “We’re gonna be doing some performance stuff in kind of like a ‘Mr. Show’ setting — ‘Monty Python’-style sketches with a band involved. But we know that music and comedy only work to a point. Tenacious D was amazing in a small theater setting. When it went to stadium rock level, you’re kind of like, ‘Well, this is the thing you’re making fun of.’ It works better when you’re in a 300 seater pretending to be in an arena. So, mostly, it’ll be music, and we’re hopefully going to completely reinterpret the songs every night. We’ll sticking to the format for some of the shows, but maybe one night might be completely country and one night might be completely dub. The most important thing is for it to be a different experience every night.”

Sounds pretty cool. Make sure you catch it if you're in the area.

Current mood: calm

I'm going to be working on an instructional DVD dedicated to the Jamaican styles of music from 60's Traditonal Ska, Rockseady, Roots Reggae, 2-Tone Ska, 3rd Wave Ska and Dancehall. I'll post updates as thez come. It's going to be bad ass!!!

I'm on the road with Dillinger through August and then we get a break. Stolen Babies will be working on new material for our next record. Check out the bands page for tour dates, and other news. Stolen Babies has a new merch page too, check it!

Old and New Scans of DEP Features in Rock-A-Rolla

I just today picked up Rock-A-Rolla Magazine's 14th issue, in which I found a live review of The Dillinger Escape Plan. So I've scanned that, in addition to a Dillinger Escape Plan feature article/interview, review on Ire Works, and the first part of Rock-A-Rolla's top 30 albums from 2007 (in which Ire Works came out at 4th) all of which were featured in Rock-A-Rolla's 12th issue. You can find everything mentioned below and at Flickr.

Gil in Modern Drummer *Updated with Scans*

This is already old news, seeing how Modern Drummer are already putting out their May issue, but Gil Sharone was featured in the magazine in April. According to a post on Gil's MySpace account, it consisted of a 10-page feature, which addressed a lot of questions he had been getting at that time. You can view part of it on Modern Drummer's website, and you can also pick up a back issue of the April issue (which has the full article and interview) from this location.

*Update* Goolick33 has uploaded scans of the feature, which you can view below (click on the images to enlarge them).
